Jr Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta September 2023
Midday on a Friday afternoon, my Dad and I left for Fort Worth Boat Club. I was going to participate in the Jr Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta. The next day, we left early in the morning, to get ready to race. The regatta started off with very light wind. Gusts reaching a maximum of 6 mph. I started of decently, with and 5th, 8th, and then 4th out of the total 29 boat fleet. Then on the last race of the day the wind picked up slightly, allowing me to score first in the final race. The following day the wind was more of the same, with an average wind of about 4 mph. I started off with another good result of 2nd, 8th, 2nd, 6th, and then a final 3rd to round out the regatta. Overall I placed 3rd, and second in red fleet. This was my first overall standings podium finish, something that I am vey proud of. In conclusion, this was a great regatta despite the light wind, and a great result in my sailing career.
