Ensign sailing

August 2019

This boat is call a Ensign. It is 22 feet long and 3,000 pounds. It is a relaxing ride because it has a full keel (which is underneath the boat and keeps the boat from capsizing). I sailed this Ensign with a friend from TCYC and his family. We sailed out of HYC near the Houston Ship Channel (see the arrow for the cranes). Ensigns were made between 1962 and 1982. Ensigns cost about 38,000 dollars restored. It is made of fiberglass and is a monohull ( which is to have one hull ) The sails cover a area of about 234 square feet. The Ensigns hull i very roomy compared to most boats and the designer is Carl Alberg but was produced by Pearson Yachts.
